Quality & certifications

The field of plants is a vast sector with very high standards. And because each plant has its own characteristics, we are guided by the monographs of the European and French Pharmacopoeias to ensure we meet your needs and all regulatory requirements.

In this way, we continuously update the quality controls we perform on our products. We aim to establish lasting relationships with our growers. Thanks to that close cooperation, we are able to control the quality and continuously improve the crops of plants.

Plant quality comes in different forms:

Botanical quality

Thanks to our company’s maturity in the world of plants and our employees’ extensive experience, Cailleau Herboristerie systematically performs macroscopic identification of our plants on receipt.

Using different guides like the Pharmacopoeias, we conduct additional identification examinations as needed, such as thin-layer chromatography (TLC).

Analytical test quality

In the interest of ensuring consumer safety, we perform toxicological testing (for pesticides and heavy metals) and microbiological analysis with the support of labs that are recognized in the field of plants, according to a sampling plan.

This guarantees the analytical compliance of the plants we sell to you and protects everyone’s health.

Sensory quality

We strive to preserve the olfactory, gustatory and visual properties of our plants through delivery to our clients, which is why we pursue the best possible storage and transport conditions in terms of humidity and temperature. Similarly, we work our plants as close to the time of shipping as possible.

Organic certification and membership in different accredited organizations

Cailleau Herboristerie is concerned with preserving the environment, which we do in particular by developing our lines of organically farmed plants.

Ecocert, our certifying agency, vouches for compliance with the rules of organic farming.

We are members of Synadiet, the French Food Supplements Association. Synadiet has been a single, united association since 2012, now bringing together more than 90% of France’s professionals working in the dietary supplements sector.

In keeping with regulatory and health requirements, Synadiet issues proposals and organizes concrete actions to encourage the responsible evolution of its business sector, namely on subjects relating to quality, information and consumer safety.

Our company has also been awarded the Phytolia POP label for plants of proven origin. That label acknowledges the expertise at every link in the supply chain to optimize plant-based product quality for the benefit of consumers, by guaranteeing the provenance of the plants.

We have Full AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certification – Security & Safety and Customs Simplification. This is a State certification issued by the national customs authority which enjoys international recognition. Certificate number: FR AEOF 00165422

Our company has also been certified Halal by the Grand Mosque of Evry, meaning our products are “permissible” for Muslim consumers, according to the precepts of Islam.

Cailleau Herboristerie is a member of STEPI, the French Association for Tea and Infusion Plants. Its mission is to represent, protect and advocate for its members’ professional rights and interests and to examine any subjects of interest to the branch, in the economic and statistical, regulatory and technical, and legal and social arenas.

Regulatory monitoring

To ensure our products compliance with legislation, we use an outside consultant who specializes in dietary supplements. We work together to watch for the publication of new laws and to bring our products and their labelling into compliance.

HACCP process

Our goal is, first and foremost, to guarantee our consumers’ safety.

To do this, we conducted a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) study of our premises to ensure we have control over all our processes and to secure optimal safety.

In that study, we identified and looked for four types of hazards.

Hazard control

After identifying the potential hazards at our site, we set up various control mechanisms:

Bacterial flora

We follow good hygiene practices and verify the effectiveness of our cleaning plan by means of microbiological testing.

Insects

We protect our site by installing pheromone traps, glue strips and bug zappers. The premises are treated using products which are allowed in organic farming. We subcontract this activity to a specialized firm.

Rodents

We protect our premises by installing and monitoring traps set up at strategic points. We subcontract this activity to a specialized firm.

Allergens

We clean our equipment between each production run to prevent any cross-contamination. In addition, the products are stored in specially demarcated areas.

Pesticides

We do not use pesticides on our premises.

Foreign bodies

Magnets are installed at the outputs of our production machinery to remove any ferrous foreign bodies. For certain batches containing undesirable foreign bodies, we use the zig zag separator, which uses an air pressure gradient to separate the different components by density.

Identification

Our personnel’s experience and our collaboration with labs that specialize in medicinal, aromatic and industrial plants allow us to confirm the identities of the plants we sell.

Traceability

We have invested in the development of management software, which we have combined with a system of scanners and bar codes, to prevent any filling errors or order errors. In the event of a complaint or a product recall, we are capable of locating all of the products associated with the batch number in question.
